2012 School Leavers and Undergraduates Scholarships

If you are a School Leaver or Undergraduate, and want teach in te reo Māori or become a teacher of te reo Māori, a TeachNZ School Leaver and Undergraduate Scholarship may be just what you've been waiting for.

Scholarships cover core study fees and pay an allowance of $10,000 over the period of study.

They are for people who will commence their study at the start of the 2012 academic year - but you have to be enrolled in an approved teacher education qualification before applying.

School Leaver and Undergraduate (Primary) Māori Medium

These scholarships are available for people who are either proficient or fluent in te reo Māori and who wish to work as a primary teacher in bilingual or immersion classes. Application form available now.

School Leaver and Undergraduate (Secondary) Tipu Whakarito Te Reo Māori me Te Waka Whakarei

These scholarships are available for people who are either proficient or fluent in te reo Māori and who wish to work as a secondary teacher.

There are two types:

Tipu Whakarito Te Reo Māori - for people wanting to teach te reo Māori as a subject in secondary schools. Applications open 1 February and close 1 March 2012. Application form available now.

Te Waka Whakarei - for people wanting to teach a secondary subject in te reo Māori in Wharekura. Applications open 1 February and close 1 March 2012. Application form available now.

Make sure you read the Application Guide for the scholarship you're applying for thoroughly before filling in the Form.
 
Please note: If you fill out the application form electronically, you will need to print it out and send it to TeachNZ.

Sending your application:

Make sure your application is post-marked no later than the closing date. For Graduate Scholarships (Secondary) the closing date is 1 March 2012.
