Career Changer scholarships 2010 – Maori Medium, Te Reo Maori & Technology

Career Changer scholarships are for people with work experience who are considering a change of career to teaching. There are three types of scholarships - Maori Medium (primary school), Te Reo Maori (secondary school) and Technology (secondary school).

The purpose of the Maori Medium Career Changer scholarships is to increase the number of teachers in bilingual and total immersion classes in primary schools.

The purpose of the Te Reo Maori and Technology Career Changer scholarships is to increase the number of Te Reo Maori teachers in secondary schools and Technology teachers in intermediate and secondary schools.

Value


Course fees paid for up to three full-time years (depending on type of scholarship).
Allowances of $30,000 per year for up to three full-time years (depending on type of scholarship).

Critical Dates

Applications open 16 October 2009 and close 16 November 2009.

Please note:
  • Applicants must read the Career Changers Guidelines Booklet carefully and send in a complete application form with all relevant documents. Incomplete or illegible applications will not be considered.
  • In the past, Teach NZ has returned incomplete forms to applicants but will not be doing so this year. We recommend that your form is double checked before it is submitted.
  • You don’t have to be accepted in a tertiary/teacher education qualification before applying, however you must have already started the enrolment process.
