In the early childhood sector, there is a need for teachers who are speakers of te reo Māori and Pasifika languages.  In the primary and secondary sectors, there is a shortage of teachers of Te Reo Māori, Māori Medium teachers, and teachers in some secondary specialist subjects like physics and maths.
