From time to time there are more opportunities in some teaching sectors than others - for instance, we would like to see more male teachers in early childhood education and primary classrooms, and more people who can speak te reo Māori and Pasifika languages at all levels of the education system. At present we are seeking teachers in the following areas:
We would like to see more people with an understanding of, and commitment to, Māori and/or Pasifika languages and cultures become qualified ECE teachers. Read more.
Māori and Māori-speaking teachers and teachers from Pasifika cultures are in demand across the whole schooling sector, including primary. Read more.
More Māori and Māori-speaking teachers are needed in all schools, as are teachers from Pasifika cultures. Demand for specialist teachers changes from year to year. Currently teachers of Mathematics, Physics, and Te Reo Māori are sought after. Read more.
